What are we looking for?
As a Sales Engineer at Techex, you will play a crucial role in driving and supporting our new international business sales efforts across EMEA and APAC by combining technical expertise with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Reporting into the Technical Engineering Director and working in step with new business development, you will collaborate closely with our sales and technical engineering teams to identify potential clients, qualify opportunities, and present tailored solutions that align with their needs. Your role will involve delivering technical demonstrations, conducting product presentations, and providing pre-sales and post-sales support to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of our products and services.
This is a hybrid role, you will spend your time working from home, at our offices (Bracknell HQ, Leeds satellite) as well as UK and International travel to customers and events up to 50% of your time.
The Role
- Technical Expertise: Develop a deep understanding of Techex products and services, their features, and benefits, and stay updated with the latest technological advancements relevant to our offerings.
- Sales Support: Partner with the sales team to identify and qualify potential clients, attend meetings with prospects, and provide technical demonstrations and insights to help close deals effectively.
- Solution Presentations: Conduct product demonstrations and presentations for customers and at trade shows highlighting the value proposition of our solutions and addressing client inquiries with clarity and confidence.
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with clients to understand their business challenges and objectives, gathering detailed technical requirements to propose optimal solutions.
- Proposal Development: Prepare and present customized technical proposals, (RFIs, PoCs, RFPs) that address client needs, ensuring alignment with Techex’s capabilities and offerings.
- Technical Documentation: Create comprehensive technical documents, including workflow diagrams and designs to aid clients in their decision-making process.
- Post-Sales Support: Assist clients during the implementation phase, providing technical guidance, troubleshooting support, and conducting training sessions as needed and facilitating the handover to our engineering and account teams.
- Market Intelligence: Keep abreast of industry trends, competitor products, and market demands to contribute valuable insights to our product development and sales strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the engineering and development teams, communicating client feedback and requirements to support continuous improvement and innovation.
CORE SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrable experience engaging at senior level experience in a Media and Broadcast direct sales support role.
- Passionate about broadcast media technology.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
- Customer-centric approach with a passion for providing outstanding service and solutions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to drive strategic priorities with sales and technical leadership and sales counterparts in the region.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving aptitude
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written
- Effective planner, well organized, and meticulous
- Familiarity with CRM software for managing sales activities and customers.
- Willingness to travel in in the UK and some International travel for client meetings and industry events as required.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or related IT field
- Strong knowledge of current and emerging audio/video and media compression and transport technologies (HEVC, JPEG2000, JPEGXS, ST 2022, ST 2110, ARQ protocols).
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software systems, and IP networking concepts.
- Experience and understanding of live video workflows across all areas of the broadcast value chain: contribution, playout, distribution, etc.
- Cloud certification AWS / GCP would be desirable but not essential.
